Radio Jupiter Picks up Gold Prestige Award 16 August 2026

Join us as we celebrate the winning of the Prestige Award for the Best Radio Station for 2025/26 and hear for yourself what all the fuss is about. Although the award covers London and the Southeast of England, it’s good to know that Radio Jupiter covers the whole of the UK.
Radio Jupiter was founded by Peter Philip and Johnny Lewis who, between them, have nearly a hundred years of experience in radio!
Seeing the future in internet radio, but judging the music choice on the internet in the early 2010s to be boring and “unlistenable for any length of time”, Peter and Johnny set out to create an internet only music station with character and depth; one that people would look forward to listening to at any time or even all the time.
Radio Jupiter is the result of years of planning, programming and hand-selecting about 7500 songs from popular music’s rich heritage. Instead of doing specialist programmes like everyone else, Radio Jupiter carefully blends the music from across the decades to create an overall station sound which is perfect for any time of the day. And, the work continues with the music library being updated and refreshed every week with carefully selected new releases, so the station always has something new to hear, sounding fresh and interesting every day.
Radio Jupiter remains a not-for-profit station staffed entirely by volunteers who have worked hard over the years to create the full “Radio Jupiter package” that makes this an outstanding radio station.

The Prestige Award judges did more than just listen to the music from the stars.
They looked and praised the outstanding work and quality of the posts and videos on the many social media accounts.
They also commented that the Radio Jupiter website was “striking and noteworthy.”
Radio Jupiter® - New Hours For The Music From The Stars
From the 2nd of December, you will find a new slimmer version of Radio Jupiter to ensure the outstanding music from the stars can continue from 6am to 8pm daily.
Radio Jupiter is proud to be one of the few internet-only music stations that actually plays loads of music from the stars. Due to our higher than “normal” number of songs played each hour, the license fees have been increased to reflect this to the point that, in order to cut our costs, we will no longer play the music during the overnight hours. Instead, we hope you enjoy the selection of “soothing sounds” like babbling brooks, sheep bleating, and waves on the beach.
Set your alarm for 6am to hear the music once more. The Radio Jupiter Team will start the shows to include the music from the stars from 7 am to 7pm seven days a week. This is followed by more music continuing until 8pm.
Before we can expand the music service once again to cover 24 hours as we had been doing, we will need to find new ways to pay for the music industry royalties.
